Government

Ridgely’s government has three Town Commissioners. Commissioners are elected for three year terms, their last year serving as President. Each term is staggered, so one Commissioner is elected in April each year. Elections are held the 4th Monday of April every year. There is no limit to the number of terms a Commissioner can serve.

Real Property Taxes

Currently the Town’s real property tax rate is $.59 per $100 of assessed value. Town taxes are included on Caroline County’s Real Property Tax Bill. The county collects the taxes for us. Real property taxes may be paid in two installments. Taxes are due without interest/penalty by October 1 each year.

Personal Property Tax

Currently the Town’s personal property tax rate is $1.275 per $100 of assessed value for business personal property. The Md. Dept. of Assessments and Taxation sends billing information to the town and the town invoices the businesses. Payment is due within 60 days of the invoice date.
